Never Too Old

Never Too Old
Posted on June 10th, 2023.

You’re never too old to learn something new.

I just learned that recently. For most of my life, I had labored under the misapprehension that when the cost of everything rises, and the value of a dollar falls, this phenomenon was called “inflation”, and that two consecutive quarters of negative growth was called a “recession”. What a fool I’ve been.

I thank our omniscient overlords for correcting my misunderstanding. They have pointed out that when prices rise, supplies fall, and the dollar loses value, this is called “a booming economy”. Why have I never realized this?

The Great Ones in the Hallowed Halls of Government have also helped me to realize that oil and gas that come from other countries will not harm the planet, but the same resources derived from within our own territories will. How could I have been so blind?

“How many fingers am I holding up, Winston?”

“How – how many do you want me to see?”

We are being asked to believe that a foreign dictator with imperial designs has somehow managed to disrupt our supply chains and ability to produce our own fuels. We are told that millions of jobs have been “created”. How? Well, that same friendly government that shut down thousands of businesses and sent millions to the unemployment line has now graciously granted permission for those people to return to work… yet, not all of them have. This, we are told, is “job creation”.

“Thank you, sir – may I have another.”

We, the ungrateful and unwashed, are being chided to express our undying gratitude. After all, prices at the pumps have gone down a few cents, albeit at the expense of our strategic oil reserves. Never mind that they skyrocketed up to nearly double under the same guiding hand.

Our Dear Leader has been relegated to making recorded speeches for public consumption, with the obvious need for editing between sentences. The people in his administration are famous for mocking their opponents for their alleged lack of public speaking ability, and/or their intelligence. Obviously, much of their PR strategy has been derived from screenings of “Weekend at Bernie’s”.

I’ve also learned that even though it’s possible for a former Secretary of State to knowingly mishandle classified documents, it’s hardly worth bothering to prosecute her. At the same time, it is yet unthinkable for a former President of the United States to be protected by the 4th Amendment. After all, what difference – at this point, what difference does it make? It would seem that full transparency is a danger to national security.

I shouldn’t really be surprised. Our country is in the hands of people who demanded full protection of the Constitution for foreign terrorists, but not for mostly peaceful protestors. I must draw a distinction here between protestors who were ACTUALLY mostly peaceful, and those who were merely described as such by the lapdogs in the mainstream media.

“Certainly anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices”

~Voltaire

How far down the rabbit hole have we fallen? For how long will we continue to listen to those who tell us all to go to hell, but in such a way that we should believe that we will enjoy the trip?

As the nameless, faceless bureaucrats in government continue to defy the Bill of Rights almost in its entirety, how long will we all sit idly by? How much longer will the ramblings of the talking heads in the media be accepted as undeniable truth? When will it be time to say “enough!”?

I often wonder how people can demand rigorous control of their fellow citizens, while simultaneously celebrating freedom. It would seem that in these cases, freedom is in the eye of the beholder. Few people understand that restricting one man’s speech is an infringement upon the speech of all men. How is it that in a public forum, only certain opinions, or even statements of fact, can be determined to be unacceptable?

The weak-minded among us favor silencing their opposition over engaging in honest debate. How many of us rebelled when being raised by parents whose only explanation was “Because I said so”? Why do we allow bureaucratic drones to similarly dismiss our questions and concerns? I’d like to think that those of us who are not children deserve and should demand better answers. Why don’t we?

I suppose it’s because we want to believe that the people in charge will do right by us. It’s discomfiting to accept the notion that government in this country is anything but benevolent. Yet, we now have more government bureaucrats who are armed with automatic weapons than we have U.S. Marines. Should we take the Alfred E. Neumann approach to this when an IRS agent shows up at our door with a machine gun, and say “What – me worry?”

It is long past time in this country to shrink our burgeoning bureaucracy and champion the rights of the individual over those of the state. If you disagree, I’d appreciate it if you would provide an example of ANY country in history in which a strong-arm government produced peace and prosperity for its citizens.

Alluding to my previous column in which I referenced the proverbial old lady who swallowed a fly, I have to believe that we may finally be swallowing a horse. My virtual crystal ball is telling me that all of what is happening now is merely a precursor to the implementation of Agenda 2030 (formerly titled: Agenda 21). We have now reached the point at which the United Nations had hoped to have us enable this agenda. I won’t spoil the surprise; rather than take my word for it, visit the UN website and read up on it. Nothing is more effective than hearing the truth straight from the horse’s mouth… which we need to do rather than swallowing said beast.
